Well, the actual thickness of your hair won't change. But, use a good conditioner and shampoo like Redken AllSoft. As for straightening, there are a number of ways. You could get a perm (chemical treatment), using a straightening iron, or actually iron your hair with a traditional iron. Some people are able to blow dry their straight. As for thickness, try for manageability. Again Redken AllSoft works great. Shampoos with avacado in them usually do.

Dont go out and buy anything expensive.

First: Purchase a mild Shampoo (To Clarify hair, I will explain why)

Second: TRIM your hair ends (May 1 1/2 to 2 inches)

Third: Here's the magic part: Mix olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and a "little" honey, (honey u will have to heat so it can blend). Either leave on ALL day or all night (if all nite, DONT use honey)

Beat up on an Egg: Separate the white of an egg from the yolk, and whip the white thoroughly. Then add 1 tablespoon of water to the yolk and blend until the mixture is creamy. Next, mix the white and yolk together. Wet your hair with warm water, remove the excess moisture, and apply the egg mixture to your scalp with your fingertips. Massage gently until the froth is worked into your scalp, and then rinse the hair with cool water. Keep applying the mixture until it is used up. Continue to rinse until all of the egg is washed away

Go for the Mayo: Heat up one half cup of mayonnaise until it becomes an oily, white goo and apply to dry, unwashed hair. Cover your hair with a plastic bag and leave on for at least 15 minutes. Then, rinse and shampoo thoroughly.

Another thing is also putting in lotion in your hair after you have gotten out of the shower and you can also put in lotion in hair after you have dried it.

Just rub some lotion on your finger tips and run it through your hair evenly.

Also, something that will help your hair is to take COLDshowers. What most people dont know is that if you take hot showers, the heat gets rid of the oils and other things that your hair needs to be kept healty and shiney.

Smash an avocado and mix with jojoba and peppermint oils. Make sure its really smooth you may want to put it in a food processor with a little water. Then apply some to your scalp and the rest on your hair. Massage for a minute or so then put on a plastic cap. Leave for 15 to 30 minutes. first offffffff.....pleasee dont start making these homemade concoctions that people are going to tell you. in order to make your hair straight you are going to need to actually use a straightener (not mayo =] lol) First, begin by parting your head into two low pigtails. Tie up one of the big tails but leave one loose. Next, take the hair that is not tied and part in and tie up the top half. Spritz the area you have left down and immediatly and slowly straighten it. You may need to go over every piece about twice. When it is straightened spritz the section one more time and then take down your top section and do the same. Next, switch to the other side and do exactly what you did to the other side to the remaining side. The key to straightening your hair is to take it slowly and do small pieces. good luck!!!

what works for me is if you go to your local beauty store(ULTA) and buy frizz-eaze. put that in your hair. than put your hair half up half down with clips and starighten the bottom. then let go of the other clip and straighten the top. put a little shine spray and your good to go=)

Umm, i wouldn't use mouse. it sounds like you have thick hair like me and believe me, mouse will only make it WORSE, because it's supposed to be used by people with thin hair to get more volume. However, if you want to wear your hair curly, i would recommend getting some Curls Up. It's a liquidy substance that will get rid of the frizz you have and also calm your hair down. I usually put it in right after my shower and then load my hair with hair spray to keep it in for the day. If you want to try straightening your hair again, use a Revlon brand one, with the heat dial. I use mine on the highest setting because my hair is THAT stubborn. You could also try a ceramic one, those are good too. One other suggestion, I usually straighten my hair in layers because I miss a lot of hair otherwise. Pull it up in a pony tail and then once you're done with a layer, let some more hair down.

My hair is usually really dry and wavy because of my perm that's growing out, I use Siso anti-frizz serum or Redken 01 Outshine ... When I get out of the shower I put the reccomended amount on my fingers and palm (just a few small squirts) and run my finger through my hair, trying to get an even amount all around. When I'm finished i blowdry it, straighten it, and it's perfect.

OMG I feel you're pain! My hair is probably worse than yours. I try to straighten it and it doesn't work. If nothing works for you, then there might not be much hope for you unless you want to try out various anti-frizz conditioners like garnier fructis or something like that. I use it and it helps a little.

But don't worry, frizzy poofy hair will grow out into thinner, shinier, more beautiful hair. Don't worry too much right now, i mean, at least you HAVE hair! That's what I always tell myself. Some kids have cancer and have to live being bald or have to pay for an expensive wig. Try to remember those poor kids in need; believe me it helps.

The simple approach is a flat iron used to iron clothes. It works for me cause I gotta straighten my side bangs everday. To style your hair curly use a curl enhancer along with a curl definer. If you can do not blow-dry allow to air dry as blow-drying even with a diffuser with cause the hair to frizz.

A good enhancer and definer should be in liquid form. "Cocktail" these two products and distribute evenly throughout your hair the use a light hold hairspray and allow to air dry.

When trying to straighten use a thermal protectant and a good flat iron. This is one tool not to go cheap on. Get one that is ironic and has ceramic plates.

Mad manc has a good point if you're a man. I had a similar problem, and I found that when I shave it it gives my scalp a fresh start. I try to shave my head at least once a year; my wife loves it. But, try T-Gel maximum strength. It smells awful, but it is the best stuff I've tried. Once every other day is enough. Give it a go.

I have the same hair type and I get dry flakes all the time. Is there a history of skin disorders in your family? Eczema maybe?

I thought I had dandruff initially but the medicated shampoos never worked for me. I tried Sebatol, Nizoral, head and shoulders, seaweed extract and natural shampoos - pretty much all the good (and expensive) stuff. Needless to say they didn't work or they worked for a few washes then came back with a vengence.

Then I thought I had dermatitis of the scalp but that turned out wrong too. I noticed that most, if not all shampoos gave me more flakiness than before I washed my hair, or it would go and once my hair dried my scalp did too.

I'm now using hydrocortisone scalp lotion for eczema of the scalp after washing and it works a treat.

My suggestion, if anti dandruff shampoos don't work, is to see a Dr and get an appointment with a specialist dermatologist. I think you find relief once you discover exactly what the problem is.

My eczema hasn't gone away but I can be flake free between washes more often.

I have very curly hair that also gets very frizzy. I bet your hair looks great when wet and gets frizzy when dry. I use Luster's Pink Oil. It's a hair lotion that you can get at your local drug store or beauty supply store. Sally's Beauty Supply also carries it. I apply it to my hair when it's wet so that when it dries, I don't get the frizz. Plus it creates a "wet look" even though my hair is dry. If you can't find Luster's, then try going to a hair salon to see what they use to control the frizz.

Now after you get out of the shower, and your hair is still wet, what you do is get styling gel and go over your waves using your fingers to define it. It really helps! Perms damage the hair shaft and cause breakage...this usually isn't an issue if you want to keep your hair the same length, but if you are trying to grow it out long, you might want to wait to get the perm until it has grown out to the desired length.

I did the same thing. My advice, don't do it. My hair was very long(about 14inches past my shoulders) and I wanted to add volume and a little wavy, so I got a perm. It was horrible, my hair was very very dry and damaged and I ended up having to cut about 16 inches off. I regret it very very much.

But my sister got a perm when her hair was about as long as mine was and it worked great for her and she didn't have any problems. I think that if you do it, go to a NICE salon, because if you want to keep your long hair, it is more than worth it.

Don't give in to a perm, because perms aren't good. Instead, use a round hairbrush, and use that to brush your hair and blow-dry the roots at the same time to get "bounce". Get it cut as a feathered face-framing style so it doesnt seem too old-fashioned. Also have some straighteners handy.

I love suaves version of matrix sleek system. They sell it at walmart for 3 bucks. It comes in an orange bottle. I have thick, curly, frizzy hair. It makes it so easy to comb and it makes it soft and silky.

OK take the pieces of hair around your part (middle part is best) if you don't have one make one first then clip it up make sure it is from all along your part then moose it up put moose only on the hair not in the clip, next put curlers in and blow dry or use a curling iron to get waves brush thru it w/ your fingers before spraying it (if you are using and curling iron then put the moose on each section or strip of hair directly before wrapping the piece around and holding it for 10 seconds) (if you you have in curlers spray your hair in the curlers w/ hairspray before taking your hair out of them) after all of your curls are done no matter which way the were made thoroughly spray your ringlets w/ your hairspray let down the top part and you are done

I swear by Infusium 23. I have course wavy frizzy hair also, and I used to struggle just to get a comb through it. Infusium 23 works wonders! I use the leave-in treatment after showering (I shampoo and condition with Fructis Long and Strong which are also awesome). Those combinations work really well for my hair. Then I use a little bit of gel and hairspay and crunch it while still wet so it will hold the wavy-curl.

I used to have coarse wavy frizzy hair too, until I switched to a better quality shampoo and conditioner. I tried every product that was not salon quality (ie pantene, frizz ease, infusium, tresseme, finese, garnier fructis, neutrogena, citrus shine, etc) and nothing ever worked. I was using at least three to four products on my hair, and still my hair was a mess to the point where I wouldn't wear it down. I have a friend who has the nastiest, coarsest and frizziest hair ever for a white woman and she recommended Redkin's Allsoft shampoo and conditioner. When she switched her hair got a lot better (although it really improved when she got the japense straightening done to it, but that's another story), so I tried it. It is really amazing stuff! The bottle says that it's for dry brittle hair, but my hairdresser told me that it actually works great for people with coarse hair. And it does! I deep condition it once a week with the Redkin Heavy Cream conditioner. Amazing stuff! The only thing though is it might weigh down your curls, so you might try either Smooth Down by Redkin, or they have a new line of products specifically for curly hair, even if it's coarse and frizzy. it is better to just go with the flow. I have the same hair, except I usually straighten mine, sometimes it still gets frizzy and just all out there wild! If you just go with the flow while your hair is still wet, or try braiding it in pig tail braids it will go into a nice wave after a shower. You may want to try better shampoo and conditioner. First: Purchase a mild Shampoo (To Clarify hair, I will explain why)

Second: TRIM your hair ends (May 1 1/2 to 2 inches)

Third: Here's the magic part: Mix olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and a "little" honey, (honey u will have to heat so it can blend). Either leave on ALL day or all night (if all nite, DONT use honey)

Repeat this 3-4 times a week, your hair will grow like a weed %26amp; remove all frizz I promise,..... and it will be super shiny!!!!

The clairifying shampoo will help take the oil off your hair when u shower

You can find olive oil anywere, but the other oils you will have to buy at a local organics store, wholes foods or BJ's health corner.

that happens to me too! but i found something that works! as soon as i get out of the shower i brush my bangs and get my part, then i take the blowdryer and blowdry them the opposite direction...after there dry, brush them back to regular and they will be straight, and be the swoop will be pretty. BUT WHATEVER YOU DO, DONT STRAIGHTNEN THEM! they get flat with no body that way.

Paul Mitchell has a frizz ease that works, but most important is that you blow dry your hair. I have the exact same hair, what I do is put the frizz ease in it when it is wet, blow dry my hair with a big curly brush. I pull it as I dry it and it straightens it out with no frizz. Once it dries then I curl it the way I want. What you need to do is go to a Salon tell them what you are trying to accomplish and watch them as they blow dry your hair and that is how you should pull it.

Stop using mousse and gel - both have alcohol - which makes makes your hair problem worse. Don't wash your hair everyday - use products without alcohol. Go to the Health Food store to find products with natural ingredients. Also, you may want to look into a ceramic hair straightener.

don't brush your hair. comb it in the shower with a wide tooth comb when you have the conditioner in your hair. after towel drying your hair, apply a product that brings out the curl, like a curl activator and a shine serum.

then take small peices of your hair, wrap around your finger and let air dry. If that will take too long, use a diffuser on low.

the whole process will take a little while, but then you don't have to do it again for a few days. if you have naturally wavy/ curly hair, chances are your hair is dry and doesn't need to be washed all the time.

to refresh your hair between washings, use a touch of shine serum or leave in conditioner and gently scrunch the hair up from the bottom. if you are getting a bit oily on top, use a product like Cake Beauty Refreshing Hair and Body Powder. dust into your hair and it will absorb oils and odours and leave your hair looking and smelling fresh!

Anything with silicone in it will do wonders. I really like Silk Works and Wal-mart makes a cheaper version that works just as well. Also try to figure out why it is frizzing. Is it dry? Are there lots of short layers with the long (mine does this because I shed alot so I have several short layers under my long layer) The best method I found so far is using a shampoo that smooth the cuticles then using a condition for curly and wavy hair. Finally I use a mix of leave in conditioner and silicone gloss. Also when you want it curly try drying it with a diffuser. This way you can control how frizzy it gets. The right diffuser will give you soft voluputous curls and waves. Don't skimp on this get a good diffuser and if your hair is long get the one made for long hair.

Just sleeping on your hair (especially if you roll around alot) will give you uncontrolled results.

Honestly, avoid mousse and gel unless it is for soft flexible results. Also don't stiff on the quality. Biolage is the best soft hold gel I've found on the market and if your looking for a volumizing mousse try the Aussie stuff that is mousse and leave in conditioner (however I did stop using this because it irritated my scalp). Try ISO Bouncy Cream. It is in a white bottle with a blue cap. You can get it from a salon that sells Iso products or from a store like Trade Secrets that sells professional beauty products. It is a thick cream that goes on wet hair.

I use it all of the time. I have very, very curly, very fine textured hair. I put it in my hair when it's wet and I let it air dry most of the time. If I blow it dry, I always use a diffuser. Iso Bouncy Cream tames curly hair so it doesn't "fro" up and get really big and it leaves it very soft. I used to use mousse and it sometimes left my hair "crunchy" feeling. This stuff is really good and you don't have to use much of it either. I have long hair; it's past my shoulders and all I have to use is about a quarter size amount. Sometimes, if it is rainy and humid, I will use just a little more. You probably already know how humid weather will make your hair swell up and get frizzy.

I have multiethnic hair with different textures all over (a lil wavey to tight ringlets). My suggestion for you is to check out U-tube and type in curly/frizzy hair ........soooo many videos will come up and you can see what products ppl have tried and also before/afters. This helped me. Different combo's of products work for different curly heads - trial and error . What works for some heads may not work for you. Check out naturallycurly.com. This is a product which actually turns wavy hair into perfect ringlets! it actually does what it says!if you use it on damp hair and blow dry it while scrunchng with your hand it creates defined curls which bounce without being heavy or gunky. it is also high value for money due to the fact that a little mouse goes a long way! it is definetly worth a try but proberbly wouldn't work if you have naturally straight hair and i would not recomend it as an aid for heated curlers. i have tried most of the mousses in the cheap range of the market and would definetly recomend this above all the others!!! also look out for offers quite often offered in superdrug stores.

I use L'oreal springing curls after i get out of the shower and redken curl boosting spray..I spray on parts of my hair where i want ringlets and then let it air dry. If i want thave bangs, I spray them wet with hairspray and then straighten them with a straightening brush and im good to go. I do not use a duffuser, I think they work like crap, It's better to let your hair air dry. When you towel dry your hair after a shower, do not rub the hair with the towel, that creates frizz..just squeeze the hair in different sections with the towel. Products for Curly wavy hair?

I have naturally wavy hair but i want a product that makes it a bit more volumised and lasts in my hair all day and gives it a nice natural curl.

well basically any product that's like a curl creamer which brings out your natural curls. I use the on efrom Aussie and I just work it through towel dreid hair and scrunch it up, put some gel in it and let it air dry and go. but if i wash my hari at night i do the same except i braid it really tight so when i open it in the mornign i have really nice un-frizzy curls. then make sure to use a wide comb to brush your hair, not an actual brush.

this is what i do before i go to bed and wake up with A+ curls ; comb hair in the shower, i put my head upside down and mousse my hair, then for some volume i tie my hair in a LOSE bun on the top of my head and sleep. when i wake up the next morning and take my hair out i get beautiful curly hair.

Sammy mousse in the yellow can (i can only find it at walmart) dry hair in towel for about 15 min, comb out tangles, comb mousse all through with your fingers, flip head over and scrunch it using your hands, let it air dry and results are curls that last all day, and sometimes into the next day.
