Cleanse, tone and moisturise (a light one) morning and night. People forget that cleaning the face dries the skin, causing the overactive glands to secret oils to try to repair it. Don't overdo moisturiser because it causes blockages to the ducts and doesn't allow skin to breath.

Avoid playing with your hair, tie/clip back as often as poss, don't touch your face with dirty hands.

Mad manc has a good point if you're a man. I had a similar problem, and I found that when I shave it it gives my scalp a fresh start. I try to shave my head at least once a year; my wife loves it. But, try T-Gel maximum strength. It smells awful, but it is the best stuff I've tried. Once every other day is enough. Give it a go.

try Nizoral dandruff shampoo, you can get it from the chemists or doctors. for spots try Differin cream, i had awful acne but this cleared it up and i had no scarring. good luck

I have the same hair type and I get dry flakes all the time. Is there a history of skin disorders in your family? Eczema maybe?

I thought I had dandruff initially but the medicated shampoos never worked for me. I tried Sebatol, Nizoral, head and shoulders, seaweed extract and natural shampoos - pretty much all the good (and expensive) stuff. Needless to say they didn't work or they worked for a few washes then came back with a vengence.

Then I thought I had dermatitis of the scalp but that turned out wrong too. I noticed that most, if not all shampoos gave me more flakiness than before I washed my hair, or it would go and once my hair dried my scalp did too.

I'm now using hydrocortisone scalp lotion for eczema of the scalp after washing and it works a treat.

My suggestion, if anti dandruff shampoos don't work, is to see a Dr and get an appointment with a specialist dermatologist. I think you find relief once you discover exactly what the problem is.

My eczema hasn't gone away but I can be flake free between washes more often.
