How do you style wavy hair?

I naturally have very, very wavy hair. The problem is I don't know how to style it, therefore it is usually thrown up into a bun or ponytail. If I attempt to brush it out then it looks like an afro so I brush it after I get out of the shower. Please help me I love my wavy hair but its getting a bit out of control to style!

Well I would definatly go with a wave enhancing shampoo and conditioner as well as a "curl" enhancing spray. I know your hair isn't "curly" But a wave is a slight curl. so just shampoo and condition as usual and while the hair is still wet spray the enhancing spary in your hair (if you want you can brush it, if not then dont worry about it... just what ever looks best) and then scrunch your hair with your hands to create strong solid waves. I would suggest Suave products for this... they are cheap and work well!

a straughtening balm is needed all of the time depending on how it works on you hair but you could just blow dry it straight!

you could also start to straighten your hair! try straightening in sections!
