One of the best ways to do it with out using a curling iron is rollers, but not hot ones, and then a head wrap, so that they sit overnight while you sleep. Another option is to braid your hair, apply a light coat of hair spray, leave it braided for a while ( couple of hours ) so it sets, and then undo the braid, that will get you waivy hair, apply a bit more hair spray, and that is it.

okay you ready dis may take a minute.part your hair in halfput each in a pony tail. then then part each of the pony tails down the middle. on either side of the part take that hair into a ponytail. now take one of the four ponytails and twist it. now take that twist and kind of make it into one of those german buns.twist it into the bun and boby pin it. do with each ponytail. twist it tightly. then wrap a scarf on your head (silk or satin) and wen u wake up your hair will be gorgeous. or braid your hair into like five or six plats and there you are wavy hair. I am now in the process of growing my hair as long as it will go. It's now mid-back. I use organic shampoo's and conditioner that I get at Better Health stores, no alcohol or other chems.(Sprays, gels, etc that you buy all contain damaging chemicals. You can find organic products.) I also oil my hair daily, Jojoba is great, and it does not make your hair greasy. So, if you would like to AVOID damage that perming, hot rollers, and curling irons make, braid your hair after you wash it. Let it dry and take out the brades. You will have beautiful waves with NONE of the damage from 'scrunching' etc. Remember, hair is at it's most fragile when it's wet. Many of us with long hair usually wash and braid in the evening so our hair will be dry by morning.

I spray with spray gel and let them sit for a few minutes, then use a diffuser on them for about 15 minutes on the lowest setting. De-pin, don't touch nuthin, diffuse again until about 80% dry, and for lots of body I do this part upside down. Spritz again with spray gel and done. Get soft, defined curls that last all day. {note: instead of fingers - you may want to try soft curlers for the overnight stint]

Use pipe cleaners!The tighten you have them the curlier it gets and the looser you have them the wavier it gets. Also french braiding t inside out (i would have to show you how) and as tight as possible is a good option, wash your hair, put a culing serum on it and plait it, sleep on it and gently undo the plaits the next day, put on a shine serum and DO NOT BRUSH unless you want a fuzz...lol. You can also but rollers that are not heated, same system though, put into wet hair and leave overnight!
