How to get wavy hair? (not curls)?

I was wondering how to get wavy hair with a curling iron, but not CURLY hair, like Shirley Temple. Here is a link for a picture of Ashley Tisdale with the same hairstyle. It's not spiraly, but it's more of "zigzaggy" sort of... Thanks for your help!

basicly instead of rolling your hair up on the curling iron you rap your hair around it and hold it with your finger carefull tho Ive burned myself loooads of times doing that but the style is cute good luck!

put gel on your hands and run your fingers through your hair and then scrunch it all up. thats how you do that look but if that doesnt work you can get a perm like that i think

instead of using a curling iron after u take a shower when ur hair is wet braid it. then sleep w/ it in take it out before u comb ur hair tada instant waves. if its to poofy put gel or water on it to calm the poodle poof!!!

Ashley's pic there def def def has extensions, but you achieve the same look by making to big braids on each side of the part of your hair. while its wet and then put some mousse/gel in it and go to sleep. there is a special curling iron, that doesn't curl, it makes it like those tight waves that you were demonstrating in that picture of ashley tisdale. they sell it in alot of places. just when you go to a store or something, that sells like hair products, and hair straightners .. ask someone who works there if they have the curling iron, that kinda crimps your hair, and makes it wavy. you might want to print the picture of ashley tisdale, and take it to the store, and show them .. and ask them if they have anything that would help your hair like that. Well I have super straight hair too. And I can turn it into wvy hair. Heres how:

1.) At night take a shower with shampoo and conditoner.

2.) While your hair is still wet, do small braid everywhere on your head.

3.) Then go to sleep, and let hair air dry.

4.) In the morning take braids of and let it sit for 5-10 mins.

5.) Brush hair gently with your fingers, then spary alittle with hairspray.

If you don't have hair spray then just leave it that way and you'll have beautiful wavy hair like me.
