Thick damaged hair?

ok so i have naturally black, long, wavy hair. and i straighten it all the time. my hair is like 5 in. past my shoulders and is layered. i use shampoo made for my hair but it doesnt really work.

i guess all the straightening and hair products just made my hair all dry and frizzy. and now my hair pulls out easily (doesnt hurt though) and i have millions of split ends. i know i should get a trim but i have at least 3-4 in. of damaged hair and i dont wanna cut that much off. and hot oils and all of that stuff just makes my hair worse later on.

soo i really dont know what else to do.

Nothing in the world will fix split ends, once they split, thats it. Be brave, get it chopped, ask for advice when you are there - what you should be putting on it to help protect it from the straightenenrs etc.

Once youve got it cut and in good condition, you will feel much better about it, and it will grow back, its not like its forever.

I would say cut it, i mean it grows back!!

But i think that it would be hard for me to do that as well.

Go and trim your hair every month and soon it will be back to normal, you have to remember not to put crap into it because that wont help.

Good luck

when u cut it it will then grow back healthy

Lately I've been using good old VO5 for my shampoo which seems to work the best for my hair but instead of oils I would use hair cholesterol. Its very thick and creamy think of it as a very intense conditioner. Just use it on the ends of your hair not on the scalp. Leave it in for about 5 minutes or longer depending on how dry and damage the tips are, that will make it really silky smooth and You don't have to use those icky oils.

"Nothing in the world will fix split ends, once they split"

not true there is many products that are made for mending split ends ttry your local beauty supplier such as sally's beauty supply

and you dont have to get your hair cut then you will just get split ends all over again and it will take a long time to grow buy leave in conditioner and only wash it every other day use lots of conditioner and always use a heat protector before straightening your hair also get the product i mentioned that mend split ends

you could also try eggs or mayonaise and leave it in your hair for 2 hours and wash it out i know it sounds gross but it really helps

good luck

i suggest cutting it off, or going for proffessinal he.p, your hair can only get worse, your hair will grow back to the way you like it in less then a year. becuase hair grows half and inch a month.

Wow, does this sound familiar. I also have long, thick hair...and yes, I have a million split ends. It's frustrating when I explain my problem to the hair dresser. Because they always say the same thing...that a few inches need to be cut off. I simply hate the idea of cutting my hair. So, I can sympathize with you. I don't use many hair care products in my hair. I think my split ends come from blow drying my hair after I wash it.

I'm sad to say, I don't have an answer for you. If I did, I would be much happier. Because I would be taking my own advice. I do recommend using a good conditioner. You mentioned your hair was dry, and that's just going to make your split ends split even further. A good conditioner will help with that. Personally, I like Pantene with the anti-dandruff formula. You also mentioned that your hair pulls out a lot. I wouldn't worry about that. Most women that have thick hair has this happen, especially those with long, thick hair.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck! ( :
