I'm also against relaxing, i used to relax my hair alot it grew long but with ALOT of split ends and started thinning, god gave us naturally beautiful wavy/curly hair love it girl! :p but if you feel thats the way you really want to go if it's your first time, go to a salon just to be safe you know, relaxers do just that relax our curl so its easier for you to straighten it, you have to literally baby your hair when you put chemicals like that in, deep conditioning every week if you have to and reapplying the relaxer anywhere from 2-4 months, but like i said natural is the way to go you can acheive the straight look with roller sets, wraps, alot of different ways actually, www.longhaircareforum.com is filled with alot of information for natural/relaxed hair care along with women that'll give you the heads up on what products work and what doesnt also this particular thread tells you everything you need to know about what to do a week before and a week after you relax http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/... whatever you decide just remember to baby your hair detangle from ends to roots to prevent breakage, moisturize and condition :o) good luck

i am against advising people to put harsh chemicals in their hair. It makes the hair brittle and damaged. When u wet your hair it will always smell like stinky relaxer. I suggest start getting your ends clipped and deep condition to reduce your frizz then just get a wet set and flat iron your hair straight. If you relax it all your doing is knocking out your waves and it will last as long as you can stand to look at your new growth(the hair that starts to grow at your roots that will be noticably different then the relaxed hair). GOOD LUCK!!

relaxing will just damage your hair and make it very dry and when your hair grow it will have split ends, so i don't really suggest that it's better if you just blow dry or iron your hair when needed.

Your hair will turn out straight, smooth andsilky. The relaxer will last a little longer than eight months, but you need to touch up the new growth every 6-8 weeks. You main tain it by adding hair creme, hair lotion, or hair dressing because relaxers dries out the hair. Use little or no heat to oyur hair. Always roll up your hair or wrap it in a silk or satin scarf to stop breakage. I 've been using relaxers on my hair for over 20 years and I never ever had any problems with relaxers. I followed the instructions and did my daily maintence and never became lazy when it came to doing my hair.
